on a roll

Thanks to an ugly 12-7 victory over Toronto the Sox have moved into a tie for first place for the first time this year. That's five in a row for the Sox. Curt Schilling and Manny Ramirez both had mixed results on the day. Schilling pitched to his first win of the year while striking out 10. He didn't exactly look impressive though as he gave up 10 hits and 5 runs. His day would've been a lot easier had Manny be able to give him a little defensive help. Manny lost two balls in the sun (only one of them was called an error, but both were horrible plays) on back to back plays causing 2 of the runs that Schilling let up to be unearned. On the flip side of things, Manny hit 2 homers. One was absolutely crushed over everything in left. Manny has homered 4 times in the last three games and has seriously hit his stride this season. He also walked twice and knocked in 5. Johnny Damon and Trot Nixon were able to get on base in front of Manny today. Damon had 3 hits while Trot had 2. Both knocked in 2 runs and scored 3 runs between them. Damon also hit a ball deep to the warning track to right in his first at bat but Alex Rios tracked it down.

In the same day the Yankees CRUSHED the D-Rays 19-8 after Georgie's pep talk to the team. While it is kind of impressive to score 19 runs against any team, it is pretty embarrassing for your new free agent pitcher to give up 8 against the Devil Rays.

Look for a minor league update to come sometime in the next 12 hours.

Isn't this so sad? Wouldn't you be pissed if you got to fight with a yankee only to be banned from all of your red sox games? Shouldn't he be rewarded? And some guy that spilled beer on Sheffield is being banned from buying tickets the rest of the year. Tisk tisk.

Nah, it's not sad. He got what he deserved. He broke all kinds of rules, made Red Sox fans look bad, and was just an all around idiot.
