Let the baseball begin!
I'm still taking a bit of a pessimistic approach, but Bill Mueller is ahead of schedule and will be playing in a game against the Twins in one week. He should be more then ready to start on opening day.
The same article also talks about the "EA Sports" curse. I'm not a believer in curses, but even if I was, there is no such thing as an EA Sports curse! There is a Madden curse, but that curse does not extend into baseball. Manny Ramirez has nothing to worry about just because he was on the cover of the new EA Sports baseball game.
One day Boston Herald writer Tony Massorotti is talking about how this spring training is too boring for his tastes. And the very next day Gorden Edes, of the Globe, tries to stir up a little worry about the Sox rotation. In the end he says that the Sox should be ok, but why would he try to cast doubt in the first place? The Boston Papers are definately reaching for something to write about this month. With no major issues to focus on this year, they're dying for material.
Designated hitter - We had the best DH in the league last year and he's back this year to tear things up again. David Ortiz put up career high numbers across the board last year and there's no reason that he can't do that again. Ortiz is entering his prime and is coming off of back-to-back MVP type years. The Sox clean-up hitter and postseason hero only seems to be getting better. The guy is for real and we can expect another year of great production out of him.
